iPad for digital signage?

Will the new Apple iPad have a role in digital signage.  It can certainly play SignChannel content, images & video but will also allow for incredible interactivity.  Is there a role for this device in the digital signage kiosk space?

Consumer media players creating great low cost digital signage players?

Many new media player devices were announced at CES from the Popbox to Boxee and dozens of prototypes being shown off from the ODMs.  These devices promise to bring internet content to TV screens circumventing the cable companies and many are priced between $100 and $150.  With a media player that runs SignChannel, a TV screen and a SignChannel account, you’re off to races with a compelling digital signage solution at a very affordable price.

Will the Apple Tablet be a digital signage device

As reported on WirelessPictureFrame the iSlate, iTab, Apple Tablet or whatever it will be called is one of the most anticipated devices of 2010.  With the addition of a FrameChannel or SignChannel app, this device could be an interesting digital signage device.  Imagine a series of pre-canned slideshows that could be played in passive mode or enable the user to select a a show in “kiosk mode” to get the information they desire.  The possibilities are endless but one thing is sure, stores will need to find a way to lock these down as knowing Apple they will be a hot item for a while.

Displays2Go adds SignChannel

Displaus2Go, a division of George Patton Associates Inc., is now offering a digital signage solution, including hardware, software and content, for almost any business and commercial environment.

Sales of Large LCDs for OOH Commercial Signals a Return to Growth for the Sector

Digital Signage continues to show promise

AUSTIN, TEXAS — DisplaySearch indicated in its latest Monthly Large Format Commercial Displays Sell Through Report that large (26”+), non-consumer LCDs had their highest sell-through quarter ever in US commercial distribution in Q3’09, with shipments up 41% Q/Q and 19% Y/Y. In addition, September sell-through was up 49% from shipments in August, and was the largest sell-through month on record for LCD commercial-use displays.

raveRave Computer today unveiled two new aluminum fanless small form factor computer systems, one “green” PC, designed specifically for low power commercial applications and one MIL-SPEC-810F for rugged environments. These products were revealed during the MILCOM 2009 exhibition.

RCT 1610 Aluminum Fanless Computer System

Versatile and radically thin, the RCT1610 Small Form Factor computer is a fanless, low-profile system designed around the new Intel D945GSEJT motherboard.

Sturdy and compact, the RCT1610 offers a variety of mounting and display options. It is excellent for nettop, industrial control, and light digital signage applications as well as point of sale, kiosk and thin client applications.

The Rave RCT1610 features a lightweight , fanless, ultra-slim case. It allows enough space for a 2.5″ notebook HDD and offers optional wi-fi capability. The case can either stand upright or lie flat, or it can be VESA-mounted to the back of an LCD screen. Both mounting options are included as standard equipment.
